The way a human memory works is that it goes through several stages first before it can store information into your long term memory bank. Initially, your sensory memory takes in information.
Sensory memory consists of: iconic memory which is a result of visual stimuli, echoic memory is a result of auditory stimuli and haptic memory comes from “touch” stimuli. As your brain takes in information via sensory stimuli, it begins to process the information and transfers it to your short term memory.
Your brain will continue to process information stored in your short term memory, depending on what you “tell” your brain to do.
Since short term memory loses information in less than a minute, a lot of information are disregarded or trashed unless you tell your brain to process it some more and store it in your long term memory bank.
This is why, it is so easy to forget memories you have just acquired a few seconds ago because the brain receives no further instruction on how to process them.

Your loved one just gave birth to a healthy and very pink human being. You cannot contain your excitement over adding another beautiful creature to your family. You have just landed in the airport after your flight from wherever and now you are making your way to the hospital to meet, kiss, smell, hold, love, and go gaga over this new little life. Once you’ve reached the hospital where you make your way to the labor and delivery department where you’re met with a very stern faced registrar who wants you to sign in before you even step foot on the floor. After signing in, you are presented with ID lanyards that announce in writing that you’re a visitor, who you are visiting, and what room they are in. Now that you have everything, you speed walk down the hallway to the room where your precious is awaiting. Enjoy your time with your beloved one, and remember that you need to turn that ID badge in when you leave.
